(CLAWSON – AUGUST 10, 2025) Sam Weaver, 15, of Burton, MI, recently earned Scouting America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award. Weaver will be recognized in a ceremony this fall.
A member of Clawson’s Troop 1615, chartered with The Church @ Clawson, Weaver is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Scouts who earn the Eagle rank, according to Troop Committee Chair Troy Engel. Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, serve in troop leadership positions, and successfully complete a community-related service project to earn Eagle; Weaver has earned 21 merit badges, and planned, built and installed benches at the Clarkston Family Farm.
Weaver is home-schooled and is about to begin his sophomore year. He plans to continue with Troop 1615. He is the son of Greg and Marybeth Weaver of Burton. Weaver is Troop 1615’s 65th Scout to earn Eagle Scout.
