Clawson to Celebrate Memorial Day with Annual Parade
Band members, veterans and Cub Scouts will walk in the community parade on Main Street on Memorial Day.

Clawson will salute the fallen soldiers, veterans and active United States forces in a Memorial Day parade beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
The American Legion Post of Clawson holds the parade each year, inviting several local organizations to walk. The parade begins at the , 655 S. Main St., ending at , next to .
This year, the parade will include American Legion Post veterans, Sons of American Legion (SAL), the American Legion's women's auxiliary group, music from the band and local Cub Scouts.

At the end of the parade in Memorial Park, the Cub Scouts will raise a new American flag for Clawson, and the American Legion firing squad will fire a 21-gun salute. Both are annual traditions.
"Memorial Day isn’t just for veterans," post Cmdr. Brian Soubliere said. "It’s a remembrance of whoever you have lost."

Soubliere added that it's also a time to recognize the sacrifices of the armed forces.
“Some gave some, and then some gave all," he said.
Mayor Penny Luebs and Soubliere will give speeches at the gazebo in Memorial Park before laying a wreath on the monument at the park.
After the parade and ceremony, the community is invited to an open house at the American Legion Hall.
