Weekend Planner: Breast Cancer Awareness Kickoff, Sweetest Day Bowling and More

A roundup of weekend events in Clawson and surrounding areas.

will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Month kickoff party at 6 p.m. Friday. There will be pop, pizza, ice cream, beer and T-shirts for sale. The party is in partnership with Ray's Ice Cream of Royal Oak and Buddy's Pizza of Farmington Hills. The event is raising funds for the Karmanos Cancer Institute of Detroit.

There will be a garage sale at 1147 E. 14 Mile Rd. in Clawson from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Items for sale include frames,Β hard and soft cover books, wooden school table, records, girls clothing, kitchenware, telephones and stereo equipment.

will host a Potluck Open Crop at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event offers great fellowship of other scrappers and crafters and a chance for you to work on your projects. Bring in a dish to pass and it's free.

will host a Mother and Son Sweetest Day Celebration at Thunderbird Lanes, 400 W. Maple Rd. in Troy, from 1-3 p.m. Sunday. Moms bring your sons out for an afternoon that includes two games of bowling, pizza, pop, a photo memento and door prizes. The cost is $10 per person and tickets at available at the Clawson Parks & Recreation office.

The Motor City Bird Expo is at 10 a.m. Saturday at UFCW Union Hall, 876 Horace Brown Dr. in Madison Heights. Come out to see all the exotic beautiful birds to look at or purchase. There will be more than 60 exhibitors, vendors selling bird care products and advice.
