METRO DETROIT, MI — Sidney Bates, a local 11 year old, has a special place in her heart for animals. After raising over $170 to help All About Animals in her successful lemonade and cookie stand in the summer of 2017 and over $1,200 in her first “For the Love of Pets Drive” in 2018, she recently completed a second annual collection drive and collected items worth over $2,300 to help even more critters.

With the help of a corporate sponsor, Kroger on Crocker in Harrison Township, the Harrison Township Public Library, as well as students at L’Anse Creuse High School, South River Elementary, and her very own grade school friends at L’Anse Creuse Middle School Central, Sidney collected 315 new and gently used blankets and towels as well as unused litter, canned and dry food, toys, etc. for cats and dogs valued at approximately $2,300.

All donations were delivered to homeless animals at All About Animals in Warren in March.

When asked about her collection drive said, “All About Animals has helped our family with several trap, neuter and release cats as well as the successful placement of a formerly feral kitten,” Sidney said. “I was so excited when we packed the truck today and it was completely full. After last year’s success, I knew that even a young person could make a difference in the world. If you are thinking of adopting a pet, you should visit All About Animals. They are very active in trying to place some pretty awesome fuzzy companions in ‘forever homes’. ”

Sidney said her goal was to collect at least 150 blankets and towels, but she more than doubled that.
