Alleged Drunken Driver Flees Hall Road Accident, Resists Police

A 26-year-old Clinton Township man was arrested March 12 after allegedly fleeing an accident on Hall Road and refusing to cooperate with police who say he was driving drunk.

Macomb County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene of a hit-and-run car crash on westbound Hall Road shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

A vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the accident was found in a parking lot near Hall Road and Heydenreich. The vehicle had heavy front-end damage, according to police.

Deputies found the driver behind the wheel and uninjured, but could smell intoxicants on him. Refusing to cooperate with deputies, the man was transported to a hospital for a blood draw, police say .

He was arrested for resisting and obstructing, operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, according to the sheriff's office.

Gun reported stolen in Clinton Twp. shows up in Ray family dispute

A handgun reported stolen in Clinton Township was recovered March 10 following a family dispute in Ray Township.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, the gun, a Ruger, was turned in by a Ray Township woman who said she found it in her son's backpack.

The woman had called police earlier to check the whereabouts of her 19-year-old son after he had reportedly assaulted her at their home in Ray Township.

The son, who has a history of mental illness, was located in Washington Township and transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff's report.

He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property and domestic violence, according to the sheriff's office.
