Child Hit, Killed While Crossing Groesbeck, Police Say

Clinton Township police say this happened early Saturday, according to WXYZ Channel 7.

Clinton Township Police are investigating a fatal accident that killed a 4-year-old Saturday morning, according to a report by WXYZ Channel 7

The accident happened on Groesbeck Highway, south of Weybridge, at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police told WXYZ.

Officers said a driver was turning from southbound Groesbeck into the parking lot of a 7-11 when the driver saw a child in the convenience store's driveway, according to the report.

Police said that the driver was careful not to hit that child but she did not see the 4-year-old who was trying to cross Groesbeck, the report said.

The driver immediately stopped and stayed at the scene, according to the report, and the names of both the 4-year-old and the 24-year-old driver are being withheld.

Police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident, according to WXYZ.
