Clinton Township Looks to Hire in Senior Center, Assessing, Public Services Departments

The board voted Monday to fill several vacant, or soon-to-be vacant positions throughout the township.

Job hunters will soon have several more positions for which they can apply within Clinton Township's police and fire departments, senior center, public services, assessing and accounting/finance.

Following recommendations from the personnel vacancy review committee, the township board voted Monday to fill several vacancies created by recent retirements and general needs.

These include:

Police Department

  • Office Clerk II, needed due to the anticipated retirment of the incumbent.

Public Services

  • Maintenance worker in the facilities and operations division, needed due to incumbent’s promotion.
  • Assistant office manager in the water and sewer division, needed due to the retirement of the incumbent.

Senior Center

  • Sports & fitness coordinator, needed due to the retirement of the incumbent.
  • Two part-time program aides at 20 hours per week. One position was vacated by the incumbent, and the other is being created to offset the time lost due to a reduction in the total hours available for each position to work.
  • Part-time office aide at 20 hours per week to supplement a reduction in hours of the remaining office aide staff.

Fire Department

  • Captain position, needed due to promotion of the incumbent.

Accounting and Finance

  • Accounts payable clerk, needed due to anticipated retirement of the incumbent.

Assessing

  • Six seasonal positions for 28 hours per week at a rate of $10 per hour for new hires and $12 per hour for two returning applicants to work on the department’s 2013 canvass program.
