A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with stealing multiple items Wednesday after a traffic stop in Mt. Clemens.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with stealing multiple items Wednesday after a traffic stop in Mt. Clemens, according to a Macomb County Sheriff’s Department news release. Elizabeth Johnson was arraigned in Clinton Township’s 41-B District Court and is currently being held at the county jail.

Deputies were called to a Gibbs Street home in Mt. Clemens on a report of a vehicle break-in. A caller alerted police to the break-in as it was happening and told deputies he saw a male in dark clothing enter his car. The caller yelled at the male, who then got out of the car and jumped into a silver Chrysler Sebring, police reports said.

The Mt. Clemens resident followed the Sebring and sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle after a short distance on Harper Avenue near Wooster Street. Police reports said Johnson was driving the Sebring and was with her 16-year-old son.
