Fatal Block Party Shooting: 17 Spent Cases Found, 3 Weapons Used

Police say witnesses from the block party are not being cooperative in providing information about the fatal shooting.

MT. CLEMENS, MI — Police are looking for information about a shooting at a block party in Mt. Clemens early this morning that left one man dead and a woman in the hospital. According to police, little information has been brought forward by witnesses believed to have seen the shooting at the party.

Seventeen spent casings were located at the scene from three different caliber weapons. Police say they have a suspect vehicle in possession and are looking for three persons of interest in the case. Their names have not been released.

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of Court and Clemens streets for shots fired at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday. They reportedly found a large crowd of people gathered and two people who had been shot: 24-year-old Clinton Township man Charlie McGowan, who died from a gunshot wound to the stomach, and a 26-year-old woman, also from Clinton Township, who was shot in the leg.

It is believed at least one of the suspects knew McGowan, police said. There are currently extra patrols in the area.

Authorities are investigating the incident and are hoping witnesses can help put the pieces together in the deadly shooting. Anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Detective Bureau at 586-307- 9358.
