Clinton Township man flashes handgun during flat tire dispute

A 48-year-old Clinton Township man is facing a felonious assault charge after police say he flashed a handgun during a Feb. 28 fight with employees at an area auto shop.

Employees at the Royalty Auto Lube Oil Change Shop on Groesbeck told Macomb County sheriff's deputies that the fight started around 10:20 a.m. and centered on flattened tires on the suspect's vehicle.

In the argument that followed, store employees noticed the man kept his hand in his pocket where the handle of a gun was visible, according to the sheriff's report.

The fight turned physical and the suspect fled the store. Sheriff's deputies stopped the suspect's car a short distance away and confiscated a .357 caliber handgun.

The man was arrested for felonious assault. However, police say he does have a Concealed Pistol License.
