Police said they found a woman lying on her front porch with multiple stab wounds to the head and body. Now her boyfriend is behind bars.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 35-year-old Washington Township man is behind bars with a $5 million bond after reportedly stabbing his girlfriend multiple times in the head and body, Macomb County Sheriff’s officials said. Paul Bashi faces a life sentence for charges of assault with intent to murder after Macomb County deputies arrived to Bashi and his girlfriend's home and found the woman lying on the porch, bleeding from multiple wounds.

The incident reportedly happened around 7 p.m. July 29 at their home on Cathey Avenue in Washington Township. The woman was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

Authorities found Bashi walking down the street nearby, reportedly with blood on him. They also reportedly located a controlled substance, “Jintropin,” a human growth hormone, inside of Bashi’s car, which was parked nearby, police said.
