Michigan Home Run Champ Is L’Anse Creuse Shortstop

High school sophomore sets new state record for home runs in a single season.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — The state of Michigan has a new home run champion and her name is Brooke Nadolny. The L’Anse Creuse High School sophomore smashed 22 home runs this year beat the old mark of 20 set last year.

"Brooke is a special talent. She had an amazing year and has such a bright future,” said Lancers coach Lisa Downey. “She is not only a great player but an even better person and also an outstanding student. She represents L’Anse Creuse Softball and our entire school community in such a positive way. I'm so proud of her and our entire softball team!"

Nadolny does have to share the Michigan High School Athletic Association record. Taylor Dew of Muskegon also hit 22 home runs. Hitting for power wasn’t the L’Anse Creuse sophomore specialty this season.

“I always feel like I’m going to get one out eventually,” Nadolny said. “When I get one, I feel like I can get another one. It just boosts my confidence.”
“Right when I hit (number 20), I could just tell it was going to go out,” said Nadolny, who blasted out five homers over a two-day span earlier this season. “I was super excited. My teammates met me at home. It was great.”
