'Muckfest' Endured By Clinton Township Woman For Mom
A 22-year-old Clinton Township woman is raising funds to battle her mother's disease by participating in this year's "Muckfest."
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Karley Locricchio isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. In fact, the Clinton Township resident isn’t afraid of getting her entire body muddy for her mom’s fight against primary progressive MS. So much so that she and her sister will compete in the annual Muckfest MS Detroit Mud Run at Willow Metropark in New Boston on Aug. 5.
“It is so cool,” said Karley Locricchio, 22, of Clinton Township, referring to the annual run through the mud that raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Karley’s team this year, as in the past, includes her sister, Julia Locricchio and her mom, Michele Locricchio, who was diagnosed with primary progressive MS. “It’s almost like it was made for us because our coping mechanism has always been humor. This is our third year.”
Proceeds from the event support the Society’s effort to help people affected by MS, get the connections, information and resources they need. “They are amazing,” Karley said. “They are so helpful with information and assistance.”
