Police Investigating Suspicious Car Fires at Hungry Howie’s in Clinton Township

Police are investigating two suspicious car fires that took place around 2:37 a.m. Feb. 7 in the parking lot of Hungry Howie’s on Groesbeck.

An officer patrolling the area saw smoke coming from behind the pizza parlor and went to investigate, finding an empty car engulfed in flames. There was no license plate on the vehicle, according to the police report.

A second car was found ablaze in front of the business. This vehicle was identified as a Hungry Howie's delivery car as it had the business' sign on its roof. Both vehicles were traced back to their owners and towed to Clinton Storage, police say.

Clinton Township Fire Marshal Steve Conroy said the fires were intentionally set, although the cause is still under investigation.

Detective Capt. Richard Maierle said suspects have been identified and police plan to pursue a charge of arson.
