The search continues for the driver who hit and killed a 10-year-old Clintondale Middle School student Sunday afternoon as the boy was taking out the trash in front of his Detroit home.

Christopher Sandoval was near the curb outside his home on the 16000 block of Bringard when a pickup truck jumped the curb and hit him. Police describe the vehicle as an early 2000's red Dodge pickup, according to The Detroit Free Press.

The driver reportedly stopped to dislodge the trash bin Sandoval had been carrying from where it stuck under his truck, but did not return to the scene of the accident, the Free Press reports.

Police describe the driver as a white male in his 30s or 40s. Witnesses to the accident say the truck was carrying two snowblowers and may have had equipment attached to the front where a plow could be attached, according to reports from the Free Press and WXYZ.

“I wish he would turn himself in,” Chris' mother Lisa Sandoval told the Free Press. “I don’t want this to happen to another family. Now I’ve got to bury my son. It’s horrible.”
