Clinton Township Board Vetoes Gold Sales at Gratiot Cash Advance
The payday advance and check-cashing venue won't be allowed to buy or sell gold as part of its services.

It will be business at usual at the Cash Advance on Gratiot this month after the Clinton Township board of trustees denied the store's request to add gold buy-sell to its current services.Β
OfferingΒ payday advance and check-cashing, the 37569 S.Β Gratiot store approached the township board Monday for aΒ special land use permit that would have allowed them to operate a gold buy-sell business.
The township board voted unanimously to deny this request, with several members voicing concerns that businesses offering gold buy-sell have not always been beneficial to the area's in which they are offered.Β

The township has denied similar requests from other businesses in the past.
Clinton Township's zoning ordinances require that businesses in B-2 districts - where Cash Advance is located - receive special permission from the township before starting gold buy-sell operations.

Other uses requiring special approval in these districts include sexually-oriented businesses, massage parlors, pawnbrokers and tattoo parlors, payday advance/check-cashing businesses, resale shops, second-hand dealers, precious gems and metals sell/buy businesses, and used goods businesses.
