Who's Running for Area School Board, MCC Seats in the November Election?
Clinton Township will vote on Macomb Community College, Chippewa Valley, L'Anse Creuse, Clintondale and Mount Clemens Community Schools board seats during the Nov. 6 general election.

The primaries are over, which means local, state and national candidates are working full steam-ahead for the November general election.
We know who will be on the ballot for various local and state elections, but Clinton Township's school board races didn't make it onto the Aug. 7 primary ballot. The deadline for school board candidates to file was 4 p.m. Aug. 14, and several area residents have entered races for open seats on the boards of Chippewa Valley Schools, L'Anse Creuse Public Schools, Clintondale Community Schools, Mount Clemens Community Schools and Macomb Community College.

However, with the state's Jan. 1 change in election law requring all school board elections be held in November of even-numbered years, the seat must appear on the Nov. 6 ballot. Chippewa Valley Schools attempted to postpone the election until November 2014 by filing a lawsuit against the county clerk, but Macomb Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski ruled in July 2012 that Kinsey must run for election this fall.
