Woman Faked Unconsciousness As Thief Strangled Her: Police
A Clinton Township woman survived a brutal robbery where her $17,000 wedding ring was stolen. A man has now been charged for the crime.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 27-year-old Clinton Township woman reportedly faked being unconscious after a man strangled her and tied her up inside of the garage of the home she’s renting, police said.
The man then took her $17,000 wedding ring and fled the scene. The assault and robbery happened around 8:30 a.m. April 2 and a man has now been charged for the crime, Clinton Township Police said.
Shane David Fountain, 48, was arraigned in the 41 B District Court in Clinton Township on Monday. He was arrested by Amtrak Police in a train station in Washington DC on April 10, according to police. He waived extradition and was brought back to Michigan.

Fountain has been charged with a three-count felony warrant, including assault with intent to rob while unarmed, assault to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, and unlawful imprisonment.
The wedding ring was recovered by authorities at a pawn shop in Detroit, police said.
