Arab American National Museum Hosts Weekend Comedy Festival
Sullivan & Son star Ahmed Ahmed will headline the 1001 Laughs Dearborn Comedy Festival on Sept. 27-28.

TheΒ 1001Β LaughsΒ DearbornΒ ComedyΒ Festival willΒ take place at the Arab American National Museum (AANM) this weekend.
Produced byΒ Dearborn-based Palestinian AmericanΒ comedianΒ AmerΒ Zahr,Β theΒ festivalΒ features 12Β performersΒ from Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., Detroit andΒ Dearborn.
Ahmed Ahmed, co-founder of the Axis of EvilΒ comedyΒ tour and star of the TBS hit showΒ Sullivan & Son,Β will headline the event.

AhmedΒ is a world-renowned comedian who has performed in every corner of the globe. The director of the groundbreaking comedic 2010 documentaryΒ Just Like Us,Β he is widely recognized as one the pioneers of Arab AmericanΒ comedy, and his work has built bridges.
In 2004, Ahmed, an Egyptian American, was awarded the first Richard Pryor Award for EthnicΒ ComedyΒ at Scotlandβs EdinburghΒ Festival.Β HeΒ currently portrays tow truck driver Ahmed Nassar onΒ Sullivan & Son, which returns for its third season on TBS next year.Β

The comedy show will also feature Mike Batayeh, a former resident of Detroit, who performed as the recurring character Dennis Markowski in seasons five and six of the hit seriesΒ Breaking BadΒ on AMC.
Retired Ann Arbor Police detectiveΒ Khurum Sheikh and Joey Nibras, also known asΒ The Wacky Iraqi, will also perform.
During theΒ festival, audience members will be asked to vote for their favorite performer. OnΒ Nov. 15, the audience-selected favoritesΒ from theΒ festival will return to the museum for a special encore appearance.
Tickets for all fourΒ festivalΒ performances are $15. TicketsΒ are available in advance onlineΒ atΒ www.arabamericanmuseum.org,Β www.amerzahr.comΒ andΒ www.1001laughs.comΒ and at the door. Discounts are available for groups of four or more.
All performances take place in the lower level auditorium at the Arab American National Museum, 13624 Michigan Ave., inΒ Dearborn.
