Why are you seeking elective office?

To be a voice for all residents. We are getting 3 new councilmembers and a new Mayor. The time for good people to step up and fill current shoes is now. Through my years of volunteer work with the Dearborn Goodfellows, local Rotary clubs, Dearborn Recreation, Dearborn Public schools, Special Olympics, the Burn Drive, Exchange club, Police Charities and many more, I have made the connections and have been visible in the community for over ten years now. Each of these organizations have snowballed into leading to running for council. We need representatives for all residents, that's what I am and will continue to be.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Currently, with all the sewage back up I think a main focus has to be on that. We had residents entire basements go under water. We owe it to the residents to understand and provide real solutions for our infrastructure. That is the least we owe our residents. I do not have the answers, but I know we can learn from surrounding communities on their systems. This will not just be on a city level; state and federal will have to be involved as well. We must get the right people on this and improve where needed to prevent this from happening in the future, we all need answers and solutions to this issue.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have a lot of respect for our current council and all those who are running. I truly believe we are all in this for the right reasons. What separates myself from others is my long term involvement in the community. I have represented or assisted many non profit organizations that has served our entire community. I am not just in one zip code or one sided, I am truly a representative for all of our residents. I am visible in our community with our service organizations helping and giving back as much as I can. People joke about Dearborn "everyone knows everyone" I am a real definition of that. If I don't know you, I will bet that I know a relative or a friend of a friend of yours. I have built so many strong relationships in our community that I have much confidence that I am connected to our entire community. That's why I know I will represent and be a voice for all of Dearborn. Together we are One Dearborn One Team and One Family!

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

I would never speak negative about our current council without knowing all the facts about any topics I am passionate about. I see many of our current administrators out helping our community and serving proudly where they can and for that I respect those who are. They have to make hard decisions based off the information given to them. I am stronger supporter of the pools and libraries that we closed or demolished. I stood strong and worked with most of them to try to keep the pools open. With that I only had the passion compared to the facts of the budget to look at, I am going to hope that the decision was made for what was best at that time. Moving forward, we will have 3 new Councilmembers and a new Mayor, we need good voices on our council that represents all residents. If we start closing all of our traditional services that make our community unique we will lose what keeps our residents here. I want to bring new and creative thinking to council, I may not have the best ideas but I may start the conversation that will lead to one.

How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?

Its hard to comment on this answer, its easy to say what we could of done after the fact. Science led us one way, government led us another way, and local officials had to make the right decision for our community based off what they received daily, weekly, or monthly. At the end of the day I believe safety was all they were focusing on and I think any decision, either what we did or did not do, can be discussed that it was not correct. Our small businesses got hit hard, I am hoping now that we are back open we as a community go out and support our local businesses as much as we can. When our small businesses strive, our entire community benefits from it. I strongly stand behind the ones who stepped up and focused on the community. We had leaders organize a vaccination center, the schools passed out meals daily, our community organizations/residents supported our first responders and health care workers, we as a community came together and assisted as one. That's what I witnessed during the Coronavirus.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

I would not describe this as an issue, but I want to support our police and fire as much as I can. We ask them to protect us every day when we need or call them. They need a voice on council that they can trust and know that will listen. Our police and fire departments show up to their shifts and do their "job" but what we don't always see that, I witness this more and more each year, but their community service they provide back that is outside of their job description. They are ALWAYS looking to help our non profit organizations or trying to help a resident that may be in need. They don't do for recognition or photos, they do it because they truly care about people. They go above and beyond the call of duty and we need to make sure that our community always keeps our first responders safety and livelihood at its best. Without them, this community becomes unsafe, when something is unsafe people decide to leave.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

10 years of community service, years of building relationships within the current council and mayor administration, helping those in need throughout our entire community, and being visible within our community. I can truly say, what I do now as a resident can be comparable to what a council member should/does do. I am and will continue to be a voice for our residents.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

1- TEAM- Together Everyone Achieves More (read online years ago). It takes a village, Dearborn is a very special village to me and all of us working together will move us forward as One Dearborn, One Team, and One Family.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I ask everyone to do their research on the candidates and make the best decision for yourself. We all have good hearts and good intensions but we need the residents to do the research and to get out and vote. Vote for the best representation for you and your family, that's what will move Dearborn in a positive direction as one community. City leaders need you as much as you need them, together we are always stronger.
