Residential Street Briefly Closed for Reported Gas Leak
No injuries reported as police and fire personnel respond to reported natural gas leak at a Dearborn home on Cleveland Street.

A gas leak cause Dearborn Police to shut down a block of a residential street for under an hour Thursday afternoon.
The leak was reported to Dearborn Police just after noon on Thursday from the owner of a home on the 23200 block of Cleveland Street, near Outer Drive and Grindley Park.
Police and fire trucks from Stations 1 and 2 responded to the report, eventually turning off the gas and electricity in the home, according to fire Lt. Robert Cunningham of the Dearborn Fire Department, who was on the scene.

The home belongs to an elderly man, who was staying with neighbors as of 2 p.m. Thursday while the cause of the leak was investigated by DTE Energy and attempts were made to contact his relatives.
As a precautionary measure, Dearborn police and fire departments shut down the block of Cleveland from Parker to Grindley Park at approximately 1 p.m., according to a Nixle alert. The street was reopened just after 1:30 p.m. after the leak was discovered to be central to the home. Fire representatives stayed on the scene as DTE continued to investigate the cause of the leak.

According to Cunningham, there were no injuries, fires or treatment for gas inhalation caused by the leak.
