Dearborn High Rules the Pool at WWAC Swim Meet

Pioneers claimed third straight league championship.

ruled the pool in the Western Wayne Athletic Conference this fall.

The Pioneers’ girls swimming and diving team won the WWAC championship meet on Nov. 4 at Romulus High School in dominating fashion.

Dearborn won 10 of the 12 events at the meet, according to the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association website. It was the Pioneers’ third straight league championship.

Sascha Meyers won two individual events, the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle.
Other individual winners for the Pioneers were Chloe Palajac (200 individual medley); Hannah Robar (100 freestyle); Nathalie Meyers (100 backstroke); and Melissa Hane (100 breaststroke).

Dearborn also swept all three relay races. Nathalie Meyers, Rory Lessnau, Hane and Maryrose Deberardino teamed up to win the 200 medley relay; Lesli Washington, Maryrose Deberardino, Hane and Nathalie Meyers won the 200 freestyle relay; and Sascha Meyers, Katy Frank, Robar and Chloe Palajac prevailed in the 400 freestyle relay.

Dearborn’s divers will compete in the Division 1 regional meet on Nov. 15 at Ann Arbor Pioneer.
