Dearborn Police See Spike in iPhone Thefts
Police encourage iPhone owners to download a free tracking app to help recover stolen phones.

The Dearborn Police Department is on high alert as officials warn of an uptick in stolen Apple products, dubbed “Apple picking," throughout the city.
"IPhones seem particularly attractive to thieves, who can sell them quickly for cash," the department said in a press release.
Officers are asking the public to take extra precautions when using an iPhone.
"Be aware that displaying your iPhone is the same as displaying cash to a thief, so keep your iPhone out of sight when not using it," police said.
Owners should also be aware of their surroundings before using an iPhone to text or make a phone call.
Anyone who notices suspicious activity should call the Dearborn Police Department’s suspicious activity line at 313-943-3030.
The Dearborn Police Department strongly recommends registering for Apple’s free, built-in, GPS tracking application, "Find My iPhone," to assist in tracking stolen iPhones. If a phone is stolen, call the Dearborn Police Department, who will assist in locating the property.
How to download the "Find My iPhone" app:
• Step One: Go to the App Store on the phone.• Step Two: Choose the search option on the bottom of the screen.
• Step Three: Select the search bar at the top of the screen and type “Find My iPhone."
• Step Four: Choose the “free” option.
• Step Five: Select "install app."
