Board members will interview the finalists next Tuesday. The board plans to select its preferred candidate after the last interview and then offer the position to that person, pending contract negotiations.
"We’ve heard from an incredible group of educators who are doing amazing work across the state and beyond and also want to congratulate the finalists," Michigan State Board of Education Pamela Pugh said. "We were fortunate to have seven outstanding student-focused candidates to interview. During the finalist interviews, we will seek to learn more about which candidate is best prepared to lead the way in making continued improvements to the state’s education system, including meeting the eight goals in Michigan’s Top 10 Strategic Education Plan."
