Detroit Man With Warrants Arrested for Stealing Vodka from Walmart

A 22-year-old Detroit man was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a bottle of Svedka vodka from Walmart in Dearborn on Monday.
The incident took place around 10:27 a.m. at 5851 Mercury Drive.
According to reports, Dearborn police were dispatched to the store and attempted to stop the man, who fled inside the nearby Home Depot where he was arrested.
Loss prevention security informed officers that they were monitoring the man via store cameras while he was inside Walmart. Video surveillance shows the man select a bottle of vodka and place it inside his cart.
The man proceeded to the infant department, where he selected two packages of baby clothing and placed them in the cart on top of the vodka. Security continued to watch as the man entered the store's shoe department and conceal the vodka bottle under his jacket. The man then pushed the cart into the craft aisle with the baby clothing still inside it and attempt to leave the store without paying for the merchandise.
Store security approached the man near the store's west doors and attempted to stop him from leaving. The man immediately began swearing at officers and slipped out of his jacket and shirt before fleeing. In the process, a $12.99 bottle of vodka fell on the floor and broke.
Officers located the man inside Home Depot and transported him to the Dearborn Police Station. He was booked on charges of third degree retail fraud, failing to obey, and resisting and opposing police. Bond was set at $1,400.
The suspect also has warrants out of Dearborn for defrauding an innkeeper; Riverview for position of a controlled substance; Roseville for failing to report an accident; and Clinton Township for disorderly conduct.
