Doo Wop Concert, Pumpkin Festival Top Weekend Events Around Dearborn

Here's a look at five events happening in and around Dearborn this weekend.

September is half over. Why not take the family outdoors for some autumn fun? Before heading out take a look at some events happening in or around Dearborn.

1. Dearborn Animal Shelter Adoption Event

The Dearborn Animal Shelter is overflowing with wonderful cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. Representatives will be at the Detroit Zoo on Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. AutumnFest

The Southwest Dearborn Heights Neighborhood Association will host its AutumnFest from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 21. The event is a 1950s theme. For more information, email http://www.swdhna.com/contact-us/.

3. Common Ground's 39th Annual Birmingham Art Fair 

The Birmingham Street Art Fair celebrates its 39th anniversary in 2013. The fair returns to South Old Woodward, the celebrated gateway to downtown Birmingham.  Unique shopping and fabulous restaurants line the street, drawing residents from throughout Oakland County and beyond. 4. Romulus Pumpkin Festival

The annual Romulus Pumpkin Festival takes place Sept. 20-22. The festival offers music, food, crafts and games for all ages. You can enter a pumpkin rolling, pumpkin pie eating or a pumpkin seed-spitting contest. Visit the classic car show, tractor show or just relax and listen to music. 5. Doo Wop Legends Concert

The tour will perform a concert at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m on Sept. 21. Tickets are on sale now. For information, visit The Shades of Blue website.
