Beer Tasting, Run for the Rouge Top Week Events in Dearborn

Here's a look at some of the activities happening in Dearborn this week.

It's the start of a new week, and there's plenty of events happening around town. Here's a look at our top five picks.

1. League of Women Voters Election Forum

The Dearborn/Dearborn Heights League of Women Voters will host a forum beginning at 6:15 p.m. Monday to help inform residents about the Nov. 5 election. Dearborn's three ballot proposals will be presented at 6:15 p.m., followed by a question and answer session with the 14 city council candidates at 7 p.m. The forum will be held at Dearborn City Hall, 13615 Michigan Ave.

2. Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce Social Hour

Meet prospective customers, find reliable vendors and build awareness and credibility at the evening networking event. This month's event takes place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings. It is free for chamber members.

3. Peter Pan Auditions

Dance and chorus auditions for the upcoming production of Peter Pan at Edsel Ford High School will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Come dressed to move. Some basic dance movements and a short combination will be taught, so you don’t need to prepare anything. For more information, visit http://efhs.dearbornschools.org/.

4. Beer Tasting at Dearborn Historical Museum

The Dearborn Historical Museum’s beer tasting and barbecue fundraiser will take place on Friday, Sept. 27. The event will be held from 5-11 p.m. at the McFadden Ross House, 915 Brady St.

The $9 ticket includes admission, glass mug, and one free glass of beer, wine or root beer. Designated drivers receive a free non-alcoholic beverage. For more information, call 313-565-3000.

5. Run for the Rouge

The Friends of the Rouge River will host the fourth annual run along the Rouge River on Saturday, Sept. 28. This year’s run route was lengthened to four miles and renamed “Run 4 the Rouge,” and will also include a two-mile walk.

Race day festivities begin with registration, which is slated for 8 a.m. at Connection Church, located at 3855 South Sheldon Road in Canton. Registration is $30 the day of the event. For more information, visit www.therouge.org.
