Families Revive Southwestern Outer Drive Neighborhood Association

A meeting for interested homeowners is scheduled for Oct. 9 at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School.

A group of residents in Dearborn are re-launching the Southwestern Outer Drive Neighborhood Association in the hope of keeping people better informed and discussing issues of interest in the community.

The group's first meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School, 21501 Whitmore St.

John Cascardo, deputy director of Residential Services for Dearborn, said the group was chartered in 1997, however its members have largely been inactive in recent years.

According to the Dearborn Press & Guide, members want to address several issues, including a perceived increase in crime in the area, ongoing vandalism at Penn-Vassar Park and the vacant Adray building on Carlysle Street.

The association covers west and south of Outer Drive, south of Michigan Avenue, east of Telegraph Road, north of Dartmouth and west of Pelham Road.

For more information, call John Cascardo at 313-943-2216.
