Friends For Animals Of Metro Detroit Hosts a Virtual Kitten Shower

In addition to essential items such as kitty litter, scoopers and food bowls, donors can also select cozy items.

From FAMD: Spring means growth, rebirth—and kittens. Throughout March, Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit (FAMD) are hosting a virtual kitten shower on Amazon.com.

FAMD Executive Director Elaine Greene noticed that every spring, many kittens that needed a little extra love were showing up at the shelter. This sometimes left shelter staff scrambling for the essentials to care for the influx. She decided that “since Amazon Wish Lists are so popular with wedding registries and baby showers, we thought we’d throw a ‘baby shower’ for our kittens.”

In addition to essential items such as kitty litter, scoopers and food bowls, donors can also select fun, cozy items, including fleece-covered heating pads and kitten hammocks. The Amazon registry is an easy way for donors to find out what is needed most at any given time. “Our needs change frequently, so it’s nice to be able to update the list with exactly what we need to keep the kittens comfortable,” said Greene.

If people order the items via Amazon Smile, https://smile.amazon.com, an additional 0.5% of eligible purchases will also be donated to the shelter. The Amazon registry for FAMD’s Virtual Kitten Shower can be found at https://www.amazon.com/gp/baby-reg/kittenshower2017-famd-june-2017-dearborn
