Madonna Not the Only 'Material Girl' Created in Michigan

Unable to find a quilt shop in Dearborn, Barbara Fricano opened her own.

She recently submitted information about The Material Girls through the Patch Small Business Spotlight.

What does your business offer? 

Quilt fabric and pattern sales, sewing and quilting classes.

What's your most popular product or service? 

People love our classes and how open we are in helping people.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

Most people don't realize how long I've been in business. Also we run a food drive once a year, collect pillowcases for various charities, and we also started collecting new underwear for shelters.

When was the business founded?

May, 2004-opened the brick and mortar June 2007

How did your business come to be? 

Always had a love of fabrics, started it online for three years. When I was "downsized" it seemed the right time to open the store.

Why did you choose the area you did?

I live in Dearborn, there were no quilt shops in Dearborn, seemed the right place to be.
