Nominations Due March 1 for Annual Dearborn Mayor’s Arts Awards

DEARBORN -- It's that time of year, to nominate and recognized a person adding tremendous vigor to the arts community in Dearborn.

The Dearborn Mayor’s Office and the Dearborn Community Arts Council, with support from the Dearborn Community Fund, hosts the annual Mayor’s Arts Awards event to show appreciation of the artists, arts educators, arts volunteers and arts supporters who keep the arts strong and exciting throughout Dearborn.

The public is invited to recognize artists and those who advocate for and support the arts in Dearborn and the surrounding area by submitting nominations for the 31st Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards.

Applications are due by Friday, March 1 to recognize those who have enriched lives and communities with their talent and dedication as either an outstanding visual or performing artist; an educator in the arts; a business, a patron, a volunteer, or simply a very special supporter of the arts.

Last year’s Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients were: Noretta Dunworth, Mayor's Award; Park Place Caterers, Arts Patron Award; Sharon Baloga, Arts Educator Award; David Wood, Volunteer Award; Haydar Al Yasiry, Artist/Performer Award; Stout Theater Company, Arts Organization Award; and Leslie Herrick, DCAC Bravo Award.

The public is invited to attend the 31st Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards ceremony, featuring awards and entertainment, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.
