O'Reilly Retains Mayor's Office In Dearborn

John B. O'Reilly beat Tom Tafelski, 57 to 42 percent. At least four incumbents will return to Dearborn city council.

DEARBORN, MI — John B. O'Reilly will return to the mayor’s office in Dearborn. With 45 out of 48 city precincts reporting as of 10:45 p.m., O’Reilly held a commanding lead over challenger Tom Tafelski, 57 to 42 percent, according to unofficial Wayne County results.

In the race for Dearborn city council, incumbents Robert Abraham, David Bazzy, Susan Dabaja, and Michael Sareini all won re-election. Newcomer Erin Byrnes also appears to have won a seat with eight percent of the vote.

The final two seats will go right down to the wire. As of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night, Leslie Herrick was in sixth place with 8,191 votes, incumbent Brian O'Donnell seventh with 8,146 votes and Regan Ford was just out of the running by a hair with 8,027 votes.

George Darany will be Dearborn’s new city clerk. He holds a convincing 70 percent of the vote to Nofila Haidar’s 29 percent.
