'Structure and Expression' Photography Exhibit Opens at Henry Ford Community College

Henry Ford Community College will feature “Structure and Expression,” a photography exhibit featuring works by renowned photographer Bill Jackson of Troy.

The exhibit is on display through Nov. 7 at the Sisson Gallery in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center, which is located on the main campus.

An alumnus of Monteith College at Wayne State University, Jackson has worked as an artist and photographer for more than 40 years. His work has been displayed at the Walter Wickiser Gallery in New York.

Jackson has won many awards and accolades during his career. In recent years, he won the grand prize and solo exhibition award in 2010 at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art in Midland. He also received honorable mention at the All-Michigan Competition at the Alfred Berkowitz Gallery at the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2011.

“When Bill Jackson drops off a few photographs for us to hang in the Sisson Gallery, it is something special. First of all, it is not that often that the Sisson Gallery gets to display the work of a contemporary artist who has a gallery in New York that sells his or her work. That fact alone makes the exhibition by Bill Jackson a bit different from many of the exhibitions that we get to display at HFCC," said Steve Glazer, HFCC fine arts instructor.

"His images definitely have a sense of intimacy. Bill Jackson confronts the viewer with a calm and intimate view of the world as seen through the lens of a man with an incredible eye for composition,” Glazer said.

Hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
