'Walking Dead' Zombies Descend on Dearborn

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in the Dearborn area to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch Calendar of Events.
1. 'Walking Dead' midnight sale
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of “The Walking Dead” — the horror comic book series that debuted in 2003, Green Brain Comics in Dearborn will hold a midnight party for issue No. 115. Doors will open at 11:55 p.m. on Oct. 8 and close at 1 a.m. on Oct. 9.
There will be multiple covers to “The Walking Dead” No. 115, which is published by Image Comics. For information, call 313-582-9444.
2. Win a flat screen TV
Cambridge Dental Group will celebrate its 35th anniversary on Oct. 7. In honor of this milestone occasion, the company will host a patient appreciation raffle that will include a 50-inch Sanyo HDTV LCD flat screen, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with a pouch and a Kindle Fire HD 7-inch display. Patients who have had their teeth cleaned in the past two years are eligible and can stop by the office to pick up their raffle ticket anytime prior to the drawing. The office is located at 27281 W. Warren Ave.
3. Food Truck Rally

The last food truck rally of the 2013 season will take place on Oct. 11 in Dearborn. The rally takes place behind Bailey's off of Mason Street beginning at 5 p.m.
4. Dearborn Fire Department open house

The Dearborn Fire Department will host its annual open house, which caps national Fire Prevention Week, from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at station No. 1, 19800 Outer Drive, just north of Michigan Ave.
Visitors can see fire trucks, the Dearborn Police Department's bomb squad van and a Survival Flight helicopter. Hot dogs will be provided by the Allstate Champnella Agency of Dearborn.
5. "LaTraviata": A Tribute to Giuseppe Verdi
Friends of the Opera of Michigan present "La Traviata," an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi of a story of doomed love in 1840s Paris. The show takes place on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. For tickets, visit http://www.dearborntheater.com/.
