Police said troopers searched the area, but did not find the man or anyone else. They also pulled the car from the ditch and searched the crash site and still did not locate anyone, according to police.

Troopers then arrested the woman and had her blood drawn for analysis, according to police.

Investigators were waiting for the test results before submitting their findings to prosecutors for review.

"This driver was very lucky that other drivers noticed debris from her crash," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "Her vehicle was far enough in the wood line and became submerged in the ditch, and would have been very difficult to see from the roadway. Again, the message is clear: do not drive impaired."
