60 MPH Winds, Hail Possible Across Detroit Area Wednesday

The Storm Prediction Center has all of southeast Michigan under a marginal risk (level 1/5) for severe weather.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Strong thunderstorms are expected across southeastern Michigan Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said the storms will develop and cross the region sometime during the afternoon and evening hours. The strongest storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours, large hail and strong winds up to 60 miles per hour.

Thursday and Friday should be mostly dry, but there will be chances of pop-up thunderstorms with temperatures reaching the upper 80s and higher humidity, the weather service said.
