Air Quality Advisories Issued For Detroit Area Due To Canadian Wildfire Smoke

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) on Thursday issued air quality advisories for southeastern Michigan due to the ongoing wildfires in central and western Canada.

The advisory is in effect through noon on Friday for Bay, Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Midland, Monroe, Oakland, Saginaw, Sanilac, St. Clair, Shiawassee, Tuscola, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Residents should also watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness or burning in the nose, throat and eyes.
