DETROIT — A metro Detroit Apple store is closing while another is planned to open sometime this year, according to multiple reports.

The tech giant is not renewing its lease at The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township, reports said.

While that store is expected to close, Apple is planning to open a new store in downtown Detroit. That store is rumoured to be opening along Woodward Avenue near the Shinola Hotel in a Bedrock-owned building.

"At Apple, we're committed to delivering an exceptional experience for all customers, and we’re excited to open our new retail location in Downtown Detroit later this year" Apple told the Detroit News. "As we prepare to open, we will not continue our lease at Apple Partridge Creek, and all of our valued team members will have the opportunity to continue their roles with Apple."

It was unclear when the Partridge Creek store will close or when the downtown Detroit store will open.
