Detroit Cops Shoot, Injure Woman Who Opened Fire On Repo Driver: Police
Police said the woman's injuries were serious, but non-life-threatening.
DETROIT — Officers shot and injured a woman after she opened fire on a repossession agent who was towing her car Thursday in Detroit, police said.
The shooting happened at 2:58 p.m. Thursday in the 10900 block of Nottingham Road in Detroit, police said.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison told reporters a man was in the process of securing the car for repossession when a woman yelled something like, "You’re stealing my car," before firing multiple shots from a handgun.

Bettison said officers saw the woman firing at the unarmed man and opened fire on her. She was struck multiple times in the arm and possibly the leg, Bettison said.
Bettison said her injuries were serious, but non-life-threatening.

"It could be a lot worse," Bettison said. "I'm glad that our officers weren't injured. I'm glad the repo man wasn't injured."
Investigators recovered the woman's gun, along with "a lot of" shell casings at the scene, Bettison said.
Police plan to turn over their investigation to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for consideration of charges.
