3 Shot, Detroit Man Faces 24 Felonies In 'Gun Battle' Over Food Delivery: Cops
Police say Deon Ray Thomas shot 3 people after the food he ordered was mistakenly delivered to the wrong house, prompting a dispute.
DETROIT — A 32-year-old Detroit man has been charged with 24 felonies, including four counts of assault with the intent to commit murder, in connection with a shootout that wounded three people, including two children, after food was delivered to the wrong house last week, police said.
Deon Ray Thomas was charged after the incident, which took place on April 13 in the 13500 block on Penrod Street, police said. Police said that Thomas confronted people at a nearby house after the food he had ordered was mistakenly delivered to the wrong address.
Police said that Thomas took out a handgun and started shooting during the dispute and injured a 31-year-old Dearborn Heights man and two 14-year-old boys from Detroit, police said.

Detroit Police Chief James White characterized the dispute as a “gun battle” in which more than 30 shots were fired and which led to the confiscation of four guns, White said.
Thomas, who was hospitalized with injuries along with the Dearborn Heights man and two boys, faces charges of four counts of assault with intent to murder, four counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, four counts of felonious assault, and 12 felony firearm violations, police said.

He is being held on $500,000 bond and will appear at a bond re-determination hearing on Wednesday.
