Wayne County prosecutors said the man turned his gun toward police, prompting an officer to open fire.
DETROIT, MI — A Detroit man who was shot by police Friday while they said he was committing an armed robbery has been charged with a slew of felonies following the incident, Wayne County prosecutors said Sunday.

Prosecutors said Taylor was shot while trying to rob a 45-year-old Detroit man at gunpoint Friday. Other crimes he has been accused of Monday stem from assaulting and restring police while he was armed with a handgun, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, a scout car with four Detroit police officers was driving near West Chicago and Schaefer Road, near the parking lot of a liquor store, a little before 10 p.m. Friday when officers saw Taylor with a handgun pointed at the 45-year-old robbery victim.

Officers pulled near the victim's car and, as they began to exit their vehicle, Taylor turned the gun on them, prosecutors said.
One officer fired his weapon at Taylor, hitting him once, prosecutors said. Taylor ran for a short time before collapsing near the liquor store, prosecutors said. He was disarmed by police and taken to a local hospital for treatment, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said a police investigation revealed Taylor had stolen cash and personal property from the victim.
