Campaign officials plan to run the ad during the Tigers' crucial game in Cleveland Saturday, and again during the Lions game Sunday.

DETROIT — Detroit Vs. Trump. That's the title for a new Harris-Walz campaign ad after former President Donald Trump criticized Detroit while speaking to an economic group in the city Thursday.

The minute-long commercial features Detroit native and actor Courtney B. Vance, who says: "They said we were dead, that our best days were behind us, but we said f— that! We rebuilt ourselves, we look out for each other, got our hands dirty, and put in the hard work. And this guy (insert photo of Trump) he don't know anything about that."

The ad also features images of boxers, The Fist, downtown buildings, autoworkers from the past and today and a concluding graphic that turns the "Detroit vs. Everybody" motto into "Detroit vs. Trump."

"The whole country will be like, you want to know the truth? It'll be like Detroit," Trump said. "Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she's your president; you're gonna have a mess on your hands. We're not going to let her do that to this country. We're not gonna let it happen."

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan fired back in a social media post, highlighting some of Detroit's positive developments.

"Detroit just hosted the largest NFL Draft in history, the Tigers are back in the playoffs, the Lions are headed to the Super Bowl, crime is down and our population is growing," Duggan posted. "Lots of cities should be like Detroit. And we did it all without Trump’s help."
