DTE: 30k Without Power In Winter Storm

As of Tuesday afternoon some 30,000 DTE customers were without power from icy conditions in metro Detroit.

SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN — Some 30,000 DTE Energy customers are without power Tuesday afternoon as a winter storm moves through Southeast Michigan producing icy conditions.

Freezing rain and ice brought down trees and tree limbs and more than 175 power lines across the region, according to a WDIV report.

About 40,000 customers have been affected Tuesday, but power has been restored to 10,000 customers by 3:30 p.m., DTE officials said.

Most of the outages are scattered throughout the region, but some areas have been hit harder, including downriver and on the east side.

DTE officials said crews are still assessing damage.
