Forbes: Here’s The Richest Resident In Michigan

Forbes identified the richest person in each state. They may not come as a surprise.

MICHIGAN — Michigan’s richest resident is Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, who is worth $6.8 billion, according to Forbes. Gilbert cofounded what would become Quicken Loans, America’s largest online mortgage lender, in 1985. He sold it to Intuit for $532 million in 1999, but bought it back three years later for $64 million. He has invested $2.5 billion to purchase and rehab buildings in downtown Detroit. He also owns the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.

Michiganders have been rooting for Gilbert to recover quickly after he suffered a stroke last month. He’s currently in rehab now.

The net worth of the individuals on the list varies. For example, Washington is home to the world’s two richest and most recognizable billionaires; Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, but in certain states, the richest people only had a nine-figure net worth, Forbes writes.
