Giant Slide At Belle Isle​ In Detroit Opens Friday For The Summer

DETROIT — The famous giant slide at Belle Isle in Detroit will open Friday for the summer, according to the Michigan DNR.

The slide will run every weekend through Labor Day, weather permitting. It will be open Friday from 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Last summer, crews made several upgrades to improve safety on the giant slide. Crews removed most of the wax on the slide, added new guard rails and updated the padding at the bottom of the slide.

When the slide reopened in 2022, after a two-year shutdown due to COVID-19, it was a bumpy ride for riders who bounced and screamed all the way down.

The six-lane giant slide was open for only one week in the summer of 2023.
