DETROIT — Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris is coming to Detroit next Tuesday for a radio town hall with host Charlamagne Tha God.

Charlamagne Tha God's radio show, "The Breakfast Club" announced the event on social media Friday morning.

"I want local voices from Detroit and voices from all the battleground states to get the opportunity to ask Vice President Kamala Harris some questions," Charlamagne Tha God said. "I know we've got some pressing issues to talk about. The future of the nation is decided by who we elect."

Harris' visit next week will come just days after former President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, visited Detroit.

Trump spoke to Michigan business leaders Thursday at the Motor City Casino where he largely focused on the auto industry, but also took swipes at Detroit.

"Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president," Trump said. "You’re going to have a mess on your hands."

Vance, on the other hand, spoke about electric vehicles in Detroit's Eastern Market neighborhood last Tuesday.

Next Tuesday's stop for Harris will be her 10th campaign stop in Michigan, though four of those were before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

Polls show the race in Michigan between Harris and Trump virtually tied. Biden defeated Trump in Michigan in 2020 by roughly 154,000 votes and Trump beat Hillary Clinton in 2016 by roughly 10,600 votes.
