Macomb County Dad Dies In Grease Fire Memorial Day Weekend
A son was cooking Memorial Day Weekend when a grease fire started. The father did not make it out in time, authorities said.
MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 69-year-old father died from a grease fire that reportedly burned down the family’s home over Memorial Day Weekend.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to the Beachwood Townhomes located at Metro Parkway and L’Anse Creuse Street around 8:40 p.m. May 26.
According to the report, the man was cooking inside the house when the fire started. The man reportedly exited, but realized his father was inside and went back in. The smoke and flames were too intense, the report said, and the father was found by the rescue team and died the following day at a local hospital.

The son was also transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and is still being treated with non- life threatening injuries, police said.
No other residents in the town home complex were injured. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this incident. It is not believed that foul play is involved at this time.
