Michigan Adds 6,290 New Coronavirus Cases, 145 More Deaths

More than 320,000 cases of the coronavirus have now been reported in Michigan.

MICHIGAN — Michigan has reported over 320,000 cases of the coronavirus, health officials said Tuesday.

The state reported 6,290 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, bringing the number of confirmed cases in Michigan to 320,506. Michigan also added 145 new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, 51 of which were discovered through a records search and occurred earlier than reported, the state said. The coronavirus death toll in Michigan is up to 8,688.

On Monday, Michigan reported cumulative data from the two preceding days, adding 11,511 new COVID-19 cases and 65 new deaths. On Saturday, the state said that over 152,000 Michiganders had recovered from the virus.

Michigan is 11th in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state ranks in the nation's Top 10 for reported COVID-19 deaths.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 12.8 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S. Over 264,000 of those cases have resulted in death, while more than 7.5 million have led to recovery.

Nearly 60 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. Over 1.4 million deaths around the world have been attributed to the coronavirus, while more than 41.4 million people have reportedly recovered from the virus.
