Michigan Adds 7,458 New Coronavirus Cases, 79 Deaths Tuesday
More than 272,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Michigan.
MICHIGAN — State health officials in Michigan have reported more than 7,000 new cases of the coronavirus and nearly 80 more deaths.
Michigan added 7,458 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 272,034. The state also reported that 79 more people have died due to the respiratory illness, increasing the COVID-19 death toll in Michigan to 8,128.
The state on Monday said it had reported 12,763 new cases of the virus since Saturday. More than 138,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the virus, officials said Saturday.

Michigan is 12th in the U.S. in reported COVID-19 cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state began last week ranked 14th in the reported cases. Michigan is 10th in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 11.5 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S. The nation also has reported over 253,000 deaths being attributed to the virus, and more than 7 million recoveries.
Over 55.6 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. More than 1.3 million COVID-19 deaths and 38.8 million COVID-19 recoveries also have been reported around the world.
