Michigan Adds 8,689 New Coronavirus Cases, 81 Deaths Friday

Michigan reported 8,689 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 389,032.

MICHIGAN — Michigan on Friday added more than 8,000 new cases of the coronavirus and over 80 additional COVID-19 deaths, state health officials reported.

Michigan reported 8,689 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 389,032. Michigan also added 81 more COVID-19 deaths, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 9,661.

The state added 7,146 new cases of the coronavirus Thursday and reported 175 new COVID-19 deaths. More than 165,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the coronavirus, state health officials said on Saturday.

Michigan is eighth in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state is ranked in the nation's Top 10 in reported COVID-19 deaths.

The U.S. leads the world in reported COVID-19 cases, with more than 14 million have been reported as of Friday morning, according to the World Health Organization. Of the more than 14 million reported coronavirus cases, over 284,000 have resulted in death. More than 8.5 million have reportedly been recoveries.

Nearly 66 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. That number includes more than 1.5 million COVID-19 deaths and over 45.6 million COVID-19 recoveries.
